۞ And indeed We bestowed aforetime on Ibrahim (Abraham) his (portion of) guidance, and We were Well-Acquainted with him (as to his Belief in the Oneness of Allah, etc.). 51 Abraham asked his father and his people, "What are these statues which you worship?" 52 They said: We found our fathers worshippers of them. 53 Abraham said, "Indeed, you and your fathers have been clearly misguided." 54 They said: "Are you speaking in earnest, or only jesting?" 55 He said, "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, He Who created them (from nothing): and I am a witness to this (Truth). 56 And, by God, I shall assuredly outwit your idols, after you have gone away turning your backs.' 57 Then he reduced them to fragments, all save the chief of them, that haply they might have recourse to it. 58 They said, "Who has done this to our gods? Indeed, he is of the wrongdoers." 59 They said: We heard a youth speak of them, who is called Ibrahim. 60 They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people that they may testify." 61 They asked, "Abraham, did you do this to our idols?" 62 He said, 'No; it was this great one of them that did it. Question them; if they are able to speak!' 63 Then they turned to themselves and said: Surely you yourselves are the unjust; 64 But then they reversed their minds: 'You know they do not speak' 65 He said: 'Would you then worship that, instead of Allah, which can neither help nor harm you? 66 "Fie upon you, and upon the things that ye worship besides Allah! Have ye no sense?".. 67 They said, "Burn him and protect your gods, If ye do (anything at all)!" 68 We (Allah) said: "O fire! Be you coolness and safety for Ibrahim (Abraham)!" 69 And they intended to do him an evil, but We made them the worst losers. 70 So We delivered him and Lot, and brought them to the land We had blessed for all the people. 71 We bestowed Isaac and then Jacob on him as an additional boon and We made all of them righteous. 72 And We made them leaders guiding by Our command. And We inspired to them the doing of good deeds, establishment of prayer, and giving of zakah; and they were worshippers of Us. 73 To Lot, We gave judgment and knowledge and saved him from the village that had been committing corrupt deeds; for they were an evil nation and were debauched. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy; indeed he is among those who deserve Our proximity. 75
