The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ TRULY, to a happy state shall attain the believers: 1 Who are humble in their service, 2 And those who from everything vain turn away. 3 pay their religious tax 4 and restrain their carnal desires 5 Save in regard to their spouses and those whom their right hands own: so they are not blameworthy 6 but those who seek to go beyond that are transgressors -- 7 And those who fulfil their trusts and keep their promises; 8 And those who are watchful of their acts of prayer. 9 These are the heirs 10 Who will inherit al-Firdaus. They will abide therein eternally. 11 And certainly did We create man from an extract of clay. 12 which was then turned into a living germ and placed in safe depository. 13 Then We made the sperm into a clot of congealed blood; then of that clot We made a (foetus) lump; then we made out of that lump bones and clothed the bones with flesh; then we developed out of it another creature. So blessed be Allah, the best to create! 14 Then after that you shall surely die, 15 Again, on the Day of Judgment, will ye be raised up. 16 And We have created above you seven paths, and We are never unmindful of creation. 17 And We send down water from the sky according to (due) measure, and We cause it to soak in the soil; and We certainly are able to drain it off (with ease). 18 So with it We produced gardens of date-palms and grapes for you, in which is abundant fruit for you and you eat therefrom. 19 The tree that grows on Mount Sinai yields oil and seasoning for those who eat. 20 And behold, in the cattle [too] there is indeed a lesson for you: We give you to drink of that [milk] which is within their bellies; and you derive many [other] uses from them: for, you eat of their flesh, 21 And on them, as well as in ships, ye ride. 22
