When your Lord called out to Moses, saying, "Go to the wrongdoing people, 10 The people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh). Will they not fear Allah and become righteous?" 11 He answered: "O my Sustainer! Behold, I fear that they will give me the lie, 12 And I shall be embarrassed, and my tongue will not speak plainly, therefor send for Aaron (to help me). 13 They hold a sin against me, and I fear that they will kill me' 14 God said, "Indeed not; go both of you with Our signs, We shall be with you, listening [to your call]. 15 So go ye twain unto Fir'awn and say: verily we are the apostles of the Lord of the Worlds, 16 let the Children of Israel go with us!'" 17 The Pharaoh said, "Did we not bring you up in our home as an infant and did you not live with us for many years 18 And thou didst that thy deed which thou didst, and thou wast one of the ingrates. 19 He (Moses) replied: 'Indeed, I did that when I was among those who stray. 20 so I fled from you, fearing you. But my Lord gave me Judgment and made me one of the Envoys. 21 And [as for] that favour of which thou so tauntingly remindest me - [was it not] due to thy having enslaved the children of Israel?" 22 The Pharaoh asked: "And what is the Lord of all the worlds?" 23 Moses said, "Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if only you would be convinced." 24 Fir'awn said unto those around him: hear ye not? 25 He said: Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of old. 26 [Pharaoh] exclaimed: "Behold, [this] your 'apostle' who [claims that he] has been sent unto you is mad indeed! 27 (Moses) said: "The Lord of the East and the Lord of the West and all that lies between them, if you have sense." 28 (The Pharaoh) said: "If you took another god apart from me I will have you incarcerated." 29 Moses asked, "What if I were to bring you clear proof (of the existence of God)?" 30 (Pharaoh) said: "Show it then, if thou tellest the truth!" 31 Then he flung down his staff and it became a serpent manifest, 32 and he drew his hand (out of his armpit) and lo! it had become a shining object to the beholders. 33
