And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They said, "In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise." 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 "You and your forefathers preceding you." 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 "And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity." 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 "And none misled us but the guilty." 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
