And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 “And forgive my father* – he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
