And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 no loyal friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
