And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
