The tribe of Ad rejected the Messengers. 123 when their brother Hood said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 124 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 So fear God and listen to me. 126 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 127 "Do ye build a landmark on every high place to amuse yourselves? 128 "And do you get for yourselves palaces (fine buildings) as if you will live therein for ever. 129 And whenever you apply force become tyrannical. 130 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 131 and [thus] be conscious of Him who has [so] amply provided you with all [the good] that you might think of 132 He hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 gardens and fountains. 134 for, verily, I fear lest suffering befall you on an awesome day!" 135 They said, 'Alike it is to us, whether thou admonishest, or art not one of the admonishers; 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 And we shall not be doomed. 138 And so they gave him the lie: and thereupon We destroyed them. In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 139 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
