The people of 'Ad accused the messengers of lies. 123 When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 124 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 125 fear God, then, and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 127 "Will you, in your wanton folly, build [idolatrous] altars on every height, 128 And take ye for yourselves castles that haply ye may abide. 129 "And when ye exert your strong hand, do ye do it like men of absolute power? 130 Rather keep your duty to Allah, and obey me. 131 Have fear of the One who has bestowed upon you all that you know. 132 Who has provided you with flocks and children 133 And gardens and fountains; 134 I fear for you the chastisement of an Awesome Day." 135 They said: It is the same to us whether you admonish or are not one of the admonishers 136 This is naught but a custom of the ancients; 137 "And we are not going to be punished." 138 And they belied him; so We destroyed them. Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 140
