The people of Lot rejected the Messengers. 160 When their brother Lot said to them: "Will you not take heed? 161 I am a trustworthy messenger to you: 162 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 163 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 164 Go ye in, of all creatures, unto the males? 165 leaving your wives that your Lord created for you? Nay, but you are a people of transgressors. 166 'Lot' they replied, 'if you do not desist, you shall be thrown out' 167 He said: "I do detest your doings." 168 My Lord! deliver me and my followers from what they do. 169 We saved him and all of his family 170 Except one old woman, who stayed behind. 171 and then We utterly destroyed the others, 172 by pouring upon them a terrible shower of rain. How evil was the rain for those who had been warned! 173 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 174 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 175
