Alshu'araa' 9 of 11

The people of Lut gave the lie to the apostles. 160 when their brother Lot said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 161 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 162 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 163 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 164 What! do you come to the males from among the creatures 165 and leave your wives whom your Lord has created for you? You are a people who transgress all bounds." 166 They said, 'If thou givest not over, Lot, thou shalt assuredly be one of the expelled.' 167 (Lot) said: "I am disgusted with your actions," 168 My Lord, save me and my family from [the consequence of] what they do." 169 We saved him and all of his family 170 Save an old woman among the lingerers. 171 then We destroyed the others. 172 And We rained on them a rain. So ill was the rain on those warned? 173 Surely in this there is a sign: but most of them would not believe: 174 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 175
