Stories (Al-Qasas)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
TaSeenMeem. 1 These are the verses of the Clear Book. 2 We narrate to you from the history of Moses and Pharaoh in all verity, for those who believe. 3 The Pharaoh dominated the land and divided its inhabitants into different groups, suppressing one group by killing their sons and keeping their women alive. He was certainly an evil-doer. 4 And We desired that We should be gracious unto those who were weakened in the land, and We should make them leaders and We should make them the inheritors. 5 And We should establish them in the earth, and We should let Fir'awn and Haman and their hosts see from them that which they dreaded. 6 We suggested to the mother of Moses: "Suckle your child, but when you fear for his life cast him into the river and be not fearful nor grieve, for We shall restore him to you and make him one of the Messengers." 7 And the household of Fir'awn took him up, that he should become unto them an enemy and a grief. Verily Fir'awn and Haman and their hosts were sinners. 8 The wife of Pharaoh said: "(Here is) joy of the eye, for me and for thee: slay him not. It may be that he will be use to us, or we may adopt him as a son." And they perceived not (what they were doing)! 9 But there came to be a void in the heart of the mother of Moses: She was going almost to disclose his (case), had We not strengthened her heart (with faith), so that she might remain a (firm) believer. 10 She told Moses' sister to follow her brother. His sister watched him from one side and the people of the Pharaoh did not notice her presence. 11 ۞ And We had already forbidden suckle-nurses for him, so she said, “Shall I show you a household that will nurse this child of yours, and they are his well-wishers?” 12 Thus did We restore Moses to his mother that her eyes might be comforted and she might not grieve, and realise that the promise of Allah was true. But most people are unaware of this. 13
