۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 “Instead of Allah – and herd them to the path leading to hell.” 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 "How is it that [now] you cannot succour one another?" 25 No indeed; but today they resign themselves in submission 26 but [since it will be too late,] they will turn upon one another, demanding of each other [to relieve them of the burden of their past sins]. 27 They say: Lo! ye used to come unto us, imposing, (swearing that ye spoke the truth). 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 “And we did not have any control over you; but in fact you yourselves were rebellious.” 30 So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment]. 31 Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.' 32 So they shall on that day be sharers in the chastisement one with another. 33 Thus do We treat the culprits. 34 For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 In fact, he had brought them the truth and had acknowledged the Messengers (who were sent before him). 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 But for the sincere worshipers of Allah, 40 Those will have a provision determined - 41 Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured 42 in the Gardens of Bliss, 43 Facing one another on thrones, 44 Round shall be passed a cup unto them filled with limpid drink: 45 White, delicious to those who drink. 46 No headiness there shall be therein, nor shall they be therewith inebriated. 47 Theirs shall be wide-eyed maidens with bashful, restrained glances, 48 As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded. 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 A speaker among them will say, "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth] 51 'Do you believe in the Day of Judgment? 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" 54 He looked down and saw (his friend) in the midst of Hell. 55 He will say to him: -- By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 But for my Lord's blessing, I were one of the arraigned. 57 Then he will say [to his blessed companions], "Are we not going to die, 58 Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?" 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 For the like of it should the workers work. 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 its spathes are like the heads of satans 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 On top of it they shall have a brew of boiling water, 67 And thereafter verily their return is unto the Flaming Fire. 68 Verily they found their fathers gone astray. 69 and they are running in their footsteps. 70 And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- 71 and We had sent among them Messengers to warn them. 72 and behold, how was the end of them that were warned, 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
