We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them without purpose, even though this is the belief of the disbelievers. Woe to the disbelievers; they will suffer the torment of fire 27 shall We treat those who believe and do good works the same as those who spread corruption in the land; shall We treat the pious the same as the wicked? 28 This is a Book We have sent down unto thee, blest, that they may ponder the revelations thereof, and that there may be admonished men of understanding. 29 We gave Solomon to David; and he was an excellent worshiper, he was penitent. 30 When in the evening were presented to him the standing steeds, 31 he said, "My love of horses for the cause of God has made me continue watching them until sunset, thus making me miss my prayer". 32 (Then he said): Bring them back to me, and fell to slashing (with his sword their) legs and necks. 33 And We certainly tried Solomon and placed on his throne a body; then he returned. 34 He said, "O my Lord! Forgive me, and grant me a kingdom which, (it may be), suits not another after me: for Thou art the Grantor of Bounties (without measure). 35 So, We subjected to him the wind, it blew gently to his order whithersoever he willed, 36 And the unruly, every builder and diver (made We subservient), 37 and others also, coupled in fetters: 38 (Saying): This is Our gift, so bestow thou, or withhold, without reckoning. 39 In Our eyes he certainly has a high position and the best place to return. 40
