Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 A Revelation from (Allah), Most Gracious, Most Merciful;- 2 a Book whose revelations are well expounded, an Arabic Quran for people who possess knowledge, 3 one bearing good news and warning. Yet most of them turned away and are not wont to give heed. 4 And they say: Our hearts are under coverings from that to which you call us, and there is a heaviness in our ears, and a veil hangs between us and you, so work, we too are working. 5 Say thou: I am only a human being like unto you; only it is revealed unto me that your God is but One God, wherefore take the straight path unto Him and seek forgiveness of Him. And woe be unto the associators. 6 Those who do not give the obligatory charity, and who deny the Hereafter. 7 The righteously striving believers will have a never-ending reward". 8
