Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 This is the revelations from the Beneficent, Merciful God. 2 A Book, whereof the verses are explained in detail;- a Qur'an in Arabic, for people who understand;- 3 As a giver of good tidings and a warner; but most of them turn away, so they do not hear. 4 And they say: our hearts are under veils from that whereunto thou callest us, and in our ears there is heaviness, and betwixt us and thee there is a curtain; work thou then, verily we are workers. 5 Say thou, [O Prophet:] "I am but a mortal like you. It has been revealed to me that your God is the One God: go, then, straight towards Him and seek His forgiveness!" And woe unto those who ascribe divinity to aught beside Him, 6 who do not pay zakat and have no faith in the life to come. 7 Verily those who believe and work righteous works - unto them shall be a hire unceasing. 8
