Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
HaMeem. 1 By this luminous Book. 2 That We made it a distinctly lucid Qur'an that you may understand. 3 And indeed it is, in the Mother of the Book with Us, exalted and full of wisdom. 4 Shall We then take away the Message from you and repel (you), for that ye are a people transgressing beyond bounds? 5 Many a prophet had We sent to the earlier communities, 6 And there came not to them a prophet but they mocked at him. 7 so We destroyed men stronger in valour than they, and the example of the ancients passed away. 8 If you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?", they will surely answer, "The Almighty, the All Knowing One has created them." 9 He Who made the earth a resting-place for you, and made in it ways for you that you may go aright; 10 And who sends down rain from the sky in measured amounts, and We revive thereby a dead land - thus will you be brought forth - 11 And the One Who created all pairs, and made the ships and cattle as rides for you. 12 So that you may properly mount their backs, and may remember your Lord’s favour when you have mounted them, and say, “Purity is to Him, Who has given this ride in our control, and we did not have the strength for it.” 13 To our Lord we shall all return". 14 Yet they have assigned to Him a part of His own servants! Man is dearly unthankful. 15
