And We certainly saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment - 30 From Firon; surely he was haughty, (and) one of the extravagant. 31 And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly, 32 And We gave them of signs that in which there was a clear trial. 33 Lo! these, forsooth, are saying: 34 "That [which is ahead of us] is but our first [and only] death, and we shall not be raised to life again. 35 So bring our fathers (back), if you are truthful. 36 Are they, then, better than the people of Tubba and those before them, whom We destroyed because they were truly lost in [the same] sin? 37 We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them for Our own amusement. 38 We created them not except for just ends: but most of them do not understand. 39 Assuredly the Day of Decision is the term for all of them, 40 (when wrong will be distinguished from right). On this day friends will be of no benefit to one another, nor will they receive any help 41 save those to whom God shows mercy. Surely, He is the Mighty, the Merciful One. 42
