AND HAS the story of Abraham's honoured guests ever come within thy ken? 24 Behold, they entered his presence, and said: "Peace!" He said, "Peace!" (and thought, "These seem) unusual people." 25 So he turned to his household and brought a fattened calf. 26 And placed it before them, (saying): "Will you not eat?" 27 So he conceived in his mind a fear on account of them. They said: Fear not. And they gave him the good news of a boy possessing knowledge. 28 Then his wife came up in great grief, and she struck her face and said: An old barren woman! 29 "Such is the will of your Lord," they replied. "He is the Wise, the All Knowing." 30 ۞ Said [Abraham]: "And what [else] may you have in view, O you [heavenly] messengers?" 31 They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals 32 so that we may bring down upon them a shower of stones of clay, 33 Marked by your Lord for the Musrifun (polytheists, criminals, sinners those who trespass Allah's set limits in evil-doings by committing great sins). 34 We saved the believers among them, 35 for apart from one [single] house We did not find there any who had surrendered themselves to Us. 36 And so We left therein a message for those who fear the grievous suffering [which awaits all evildoers]. 37 And in Moses (was another Sign): Behold, We sent him to Pharaoh, with authority manifest. 38 Then he turned away with his court, and said: a magician or a madman. 39 We seized him and his army and threw them into the sea. He himself was to be blamed. 40 There is another sign in the [tribe of] 'Ad, when We sent against them a life-destroying wind 41 that left nothing it came upon, but made it as stuff decayed. 42 And also in Thamood, when it was said to them, 'Take your enjoyment for a while!' 43 In response they rebelled against their Lord’s command, so the thunderbolt seized them whilst they were watching. 44 And they were unable to arise, nor could they defend themselves. 45 And the folk of Noah aforetime. Lo! they were licentious folk. 46
