Has the story reached you, of the honoured guests [three angels; Jibrael (Gabriel) along with another two] of Ibrahim (Abraham)? 24 They entered to him and said: 'Peace' And he replied: 'Peace, you are people unknown to me' 25 So he turned to his household and brought a fattened calf. 26 He placed it before them. Then he said, "Why are you not eating?" 27 Then he conceived a fear about them, and they said: 'Have no fear', and gave him the glad tidings that he was to have a knowledgeable son. 28 Then his wife came forward, crying and beating her brow. She said, "I am surely a barren, old woman." 29 They said, "This is true but your Lord has said, (that you will have a son); He is All-wise and All-knowing". 30 ۞ (Abraham) said: And (afterward) what is your errand, O ye sent (from Allah)? 31 They said: Surely we are sent to a guilty people, 32 That we may send down upon them stone of clay, 33 Marked by your Lord for those who waste their substance." 34 So We evacuated everyone who was a believer there, 35 – and We did not find there any, apart from a single house of Muslims – 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 AND IN [the story of Pharaoh and] Moses, too, [We left the same message: for] when We sent him unto Pharaoh with [Our] manifest authority, 38 But (Pharaoh) turned back with his Chiefs, and said, "A sorcerer, or one possessed!" 39 So We seized him and his hosts and hurled them into the sea and he was blamable. 40 There is also evidence of the Truth in the story of Ad whom We struck with a violent wind 41 It did not leave aught on which it blew, but it made it like ashes. 42 And in [the story of the tribe of] Thamud, too, when they were told, "You shall enjoy your life for [but] a little while," 43 But they were insolent toward the command of their Lord, so the thunderbolt seized them while they were looking on. 44 And they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 And [thus, too, We destroyed] Noah's people aforetime: for they were iniquitous folk. 46
