Has the story reached thee, of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 When they entered unto him, saying 'Peace!' he said 'Peace! You are a people unknown to me.' 25 Then he went back to his family and brought a fat roasted calf 26 and placed it before them, saying, "Will you not eat?" 27 (When they did not eat), He conceived a fear of them. They said, "Fear not," and they gave him glad tidings of a son endowed with knowledge. 28 His wife came forward, crying and beating her face, saying, "I am an old barren woman!" 29 They said, 'So says thy Lord; He is the All-wise, the All-knowing.' 30 ۞ (Abraham) said: "And what, O ye Messengers, is your errand (now)?" 31 They said: verily we are sent unto a people, guilty. 32 So as to let loose clods of clay on them 33 marked by your Lord for the sinful' 34 So We brought out whoever was in the cities of the believers. 35 And We found not therein more than one house of the Muslims. 36 And We have left there a sign (i.e. the place of the Dead Sea, well-known in Palestine) for those who fear the painful torment. 37 And in Moses (was another Sign): Behold, We sent him to Pharaoh, with authority manifest. 38 But he turned away with his supporters and said," A magician or a madman." 39 We therefore seized him and his army and threw them into the sea, while he was blaming himself. 40 And in the 'Ad (people) (was another Sign): Behold, We sent against them the devastating Wind: 41 It left nothing of what it came upon but that it made it like disintegrated ruins. 42 And in Thamud (there is also a sign), when they were told: "Enjoy yourselves for a while!" 43 after they had turned with disdain from their Sustainer's commandment - whereupon the thunderbolt of punishment overtook them while they were [helplessly] looking on: 44 They were unable even to stand up or protect themselves. 45 Before all these We destroyed the people of Noah: they were a wicked people. 46
