Have you heard the story of Abraham's honoured guests? 24 When they came to him, they said: "Peace." He answered: "Peace." They were a people he did not recognise. 25 So he turned to his household and brought a fattened calf. 26 and laid it before them, saying: “Will you not eat?” 27 beginning to be afraid of them. But they said, "Don't be afraid"; and they gave him the good news of a son who would be endowed with knowledge. 28 So hearing his wife went forth shouting. She struck her face and exclaimed: “A barren old woman am I.” 29 "Such is the will of your Lord," they replied. "He is the Wise, the All Knowing." 30 ۞ Said he, 'And what is your business, envoys?' 31 They answered: "Behold, we have been sent unto a people lost in sin, 32 “To throw upon them stones of baked clay.” 33 marked with thy Lord for the prodigal. 34 And in the course of time We brought out [of Lot 's city] such [few] believers as were there: 35 And We found not within them other than a [single] house of Muslims. 36 and We left therein a sign for those who fear a painful punishment. 37 And in Moses (was another Sign): Behold, We sent him to Pharaoh, with authority manifest. 38 but he turned his back, with his court, saying, 'A sorcerer, or a man possessed!' 39 So We seized him and his hosts and hurled them into the sea and he was blamable. 40 There is another sign in the [tribe of] 'Ad, when We sent against them a life-destroying wind 41 It left out nothing in its path, but which it split up into fragments. 42 And also in Thamood, when it was said to them, 'Take your enjoyment for a while!' 43 But they were insolent toward the command of their Lord, so the thunderbolt seized them while they were looking on. 44 And they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 And before them, We destroyed the people of Nooh; they were indeed a sinning nation. 46
