The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the Mount; 1 Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed 2 on fine parchment; 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 And the roof exalted, 5 and by the swelling ocean, 6 Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- 7 there is none to prevent it. 8 A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 and amuse themselves with vain argumentation. 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did, 19 They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds. 21 We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 And some of them draw near unto others, questioning, 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
