The Stars (Al-Najm)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the star when it goes down. 1 Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. 2 Nor does he speak out of desire. 3 It is naught but revelation that is revealed, 4 He was taught by one Mighty in Power, 5 The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. 6 While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon. 7 Then he drew near and hung above suspended, 8 he was but two bows' length or even nearer, 9 And He revealed unto His slave that which He revealed. 10 The heart did not deny, what it saw. (The Holy Prophet was bestowed with seeing Allah – see also preceding verses 8, 9, 10.) 11 What! So do you dispute with him regarding what he saw? 12 Indeed he saw him a second time, 13 at the Lote Tree (Sidrat tree) of the ending 14 nigh which is the Garden of the Refuge, 15 When that which covers covered the lote-tree; 16 The eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit. 17 and he certainly saw some of the greatest Signs of His Lord. 18 (Among the idols) have you considered allat and al'uzza, 19 And another, the third (goddess), Manat? 20 Do sons belong to you and daughters to God? 21 That were indeed an unjust division. 22 these are nothing but names which you yourselves have devised, you and your forefathers. God has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own selves desire, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord! 23 Shall man have whatever he craves? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25
