The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the star of the pleiades when it has dipped 1 Your Companion is neither astray nor being misled. 2 Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 something that a very mighty one has imparted to him: 5 Dhu Mirrah (free from any defect in body and mind), Fastawa [then he (Jibrael - Gabriel) rose and became stable]. [Tafsir At-Tabari]. 6 being on the higher horizon, 7 Thereafter he drew nigh, then he let himself down. 8 he was but two bows' length or even nearer, 9 Thus He revealed unto His bondman whatsoever He revealed. 10 The [servant's] heart did not give the lie to what he saw: 11 So will you dispute with him over what he saw? 12 Indeed, he saw him in another descent 13 At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary - 14 Close to which is the Everlasting Paradise. 15 When the Lote-tree was covered over with what it was covered over; 16 The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). 17 Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you really considered al-Lat and al-"Uzza, 19 And Manat, the other third (of the pagan deities)? 20 Do sons belong to you and daughters to God? 21 That were indeed an unjust division. 22 These are only names which you and your fathers have invented. No authority was sent down by God for them. They only follow conjecture and wish-fulfilment, even though guidance had come to them already from their Lord. 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 But it is to Allah that the End and the Beginning (of all things) belong. 25

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
