The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Star when it plunges, 1 Your comrade erreth not, nor is deceived; 2 Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. 3 It is naught save an inspiration that is inspired, 4 Taught to him by one intense in strength - 5 The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. 6 being on the higher horizon. 7 Then he approached and came closer, 8 until he was two bow-lengths away or even closer 9 And He revealed to His servant what He revealed. 10 The heart [of the Prophet] did not misconstrue what he saw. 11 What! do you then dispute with him as to what he saw? 12 Indeed, he saw him another time 13 Nigh unto the lote-tree at the boundary. 14 Near it is the Garden of Abode. 15 When that which covers covered the lote-tree; 16 [And withal,] the eye did not waver, nor yet did it stray: 17 and he certainly saw some of the greatest Signs of His Lord. 18 So have you considered al-Lat and al-'Uzza? 19 and Manat the third, the other? 20 Do sons belong to you and daughters to God? 21 That is indeed an unjust division. 22 They are not but [mere] names you have named them - you and your forefathers - for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow not except assumption and what [their] souls desire, and there has already come to them from their Lord guidance. 23 Or shall man have what he coveteth? 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25
