Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 and grudgingly spends very little for the cause of God? 34 Is with him knowledge of the unseen so that he seeth? 35 Has he not heard what is contained in the Book of Moses, 36 and of Abraham, who to his trust was true: 37 Certainly no one will bear the responsibility of the sins of another, 38 And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives 39 He will certainly see the result of his labor 40 and in the end he will be repaid for it in full; 41 and that the final return is to your Lord, 42 and that He it is Who causes people to laugh and to cry, 43 and that it is He who causes to die, and causes to live 44 And that He createth the pair, the male and the female. 45 from a discharged living germ 46 And that on Him is the bringing forth a second time; 47 And that He it is Who enricheth and contenteth; 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius; 49 And that He destroyed the first [people of] 'Aad 50 Thamud, 51 And also the people of Nuh aforetime. Verily they were even greater wrong-doers and more contumacious. 52 And He overthrew the Cities of the Plain, 53 so that there covered it that which covered. 54 Which of your Lord's benefits will you then dispute about? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The Approaching Day has approached. 57 None, except Allah, can avert it. 58 Will you, then, wonder at this? 59 and do you laugh, and do you not weep, 60 And ye are behaving proudly. 61 So prostrate yourselves before Allah and worship. ۩ 62
