Thamud (people also) belied the warnings. 23 And said: "Should we follow only one man among us? In that case we shall be in error and insane." 24 Has the reminder been made to light upon him from among us? Nay! he is an insolent liar! 25 [We said to him] "Tomorrow they shall know who is the boastful liar, 26 Behold, [O Salih] We are letting loose this she-camel as a test for them; and thou but watch them, and contain thyself in patience. 27 Tell them that the water is to be divided between them, a drink each for them in turn' 28 But they called their companion, so he took (the sword) and slew (her). 29 How terrible was My punishment and warning. 30 Surely We sent upon them a single cry, so they were like the dry fragments of trees which the maker of an enclosure collects. 31 And indeed, We have made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 32 The nation of Lot belied Our warnings. 33 Lo! We sent a storm of stones upon them (all) save the family of Lot, whom We rescued in the last watch of the night, 34 As a favour from Us. Thus We recompense him who giveth thanks. 35 Lot warned them against Our torment, but they persistently disputed it. 36 And certainly they endeavored to turn him from his guests, but We blinded their eyes; so taste My chastisement and My warning. 37 And certainly a lasting chastisement overtook them in the morning. 38 "Taste My punishment now that you have scorned My warnings!" 39 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished. 40

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
