The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Compassionate. 1 has taught the Koran. 2 Created man, 3 and taught him its pronunciation. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning, 5 The stars and the trees prostrate. 6 and heaven -- He raised it up, and set the Balance. 7 So that none may err against the scales, 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 On it are fruits and palm-trees with sheathed clusters [of dates], 11 And also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-scented plants. 12 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 13 He created the human being from clay like that used for pottery 14 And He created the jinn of a flame of fire. 15 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 16 He is the Lord of the East and West through all seasons. 17 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 18 He unleashed the two seas so that they merge together, 19 With an interstice between them which they cannot cross. 20 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? -- 21 From the two oceans comes pearls and coral. 22 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord would you then deny? 23 By His command, the ships with raised masts sail on the sea like mountains. 24 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 25
