The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 like hidden pearls, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 and shade extended, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
