The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And extended shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
