The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and banana trees, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
