Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The true event! 1 What is the Sure Reality? 2 Would that you knew (in detail) what the Inevitable is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 Then seest thou any of them left surviving? 8 And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 so that We might make it a reminder for you and so that attentive ears might retain it. 12 Then when the Horn is blown with one blast 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 On that Day you will be brought to judgement and none of your secrets will remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 Then he shall find himself in a life of bliss; 21 In a lofty Garden – 22 The fruits of which are near at hand: 23 (They will be told): “Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for the good deeds you did in the days that have passed by.” 24 And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me: 25 "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! 26 “Alas, if only it had been just death.” 27 Of no avail to me is all that I have [ever] possessed, 28 and my authority has been destroyed' 29 Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him, 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. 32 they did not believe in the great God, 33 Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
