Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Verily, We sent Nuh (Noah) to his people (Saying): "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful torment." 1 He said, 'O my people, I am unto you a clear warner, 2 That you should serve Allah and be careful of (your duty to) Him and obey me: 3 "So He may forgive you your sins and give you respite for a stated Term: for when the Term given by Allah is accomplished, it cannot be put forward: if ye only knew." 4 Noah said, "My Lord, I have been preaching to my people, night and day, 5 "But all my calling added nothing but to (their) flight (from the truth). 6 "And verily! Every time I called unto them that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, and persisted (in their refusal), and magnified themselves in pride. 7 "Then verily, I called to them openly (aloud); 8 “Then I also told them publicly and also spoke to them softly in private.” 9 and I said: "'Ask your Sustainer to forgive you your sins - for, verily, He is all-forgiving! 10 He will send you abundant 11 And will give you increase of wealth and sons, and give you gardens and springs of water. 12 What is [the matter] with you that you do not attribute to Allah [due] grandeur 13 when He has created you through different stages of existence? 14 Do you not see how God has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 ‘And in them, has illuminated the moon, and made the sun a lamp?’ 16 And Allah has made you grow out of the earth as a growth: 17 then He shall return you into it, and bring you forth. 18 And Allah hath made the earth unto you an expanse. 19 That of it ye may traverse the ways open. 20
