The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise and warn, 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And all abomination shun! 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. 7 When the Trumpet is sounded, 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 I shall oblige him to (climb a slippery mountain in the Hell-fire called As-Sa'ud, or to) face a severe torment! 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 He looked (at others); 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 and in the end he turns his back [on Our message,] and glories in his arrogance, 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
