Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the (winds) sent forth in quick succession, 1 Which then blow violently in tempestuous Gusts, 2 Consider these [messages] that spread [the truth] far and wide, 3 And those that distinguish distinctly, 4 And those that bring down the Reminder 5 to provide excuses for some and to give warnings to others: 6 Surely what you are promised shall come to pass. 7 Thus, [it will come to pass] when the stars are effaced, 8 When the heaven is cleft asunder; 9 And when the mountains are carried away as dust, 10 and the appointed time to bring the Messengers together arrives, (then shall the promised event come to pass). 11 for what Day has this been appointed? 12 To the day of decision. 13 And what will make you comprehend what the day of decision is? 14 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 15 Did We not destroy the earlier people? 16 Then caused the latter folk to follow after? 17 This is how We deal with the guilty. 18 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 19 Did We not create you from a weak water, 20 which We placed within a sure lodging 21 till a known term decreed? 22 We then calculated; so how excellently do We control! 23 Ah woe, that Day! to the Rejecters of Truth! 24 Have We not made the earth a repository 25 Of the living and the dead? 26 and have We not set on it proud, firm mountains, and given you sweet water to drink? 27 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 28 “Move towards what you used to deny!” 29 Walk on to the covering having three branches, 30 (Which yet is) no relief nor shelter from the flame. 31 which - behold! - will throw up sparks like [burning] logs, 32 (Or) as it might be camels of bright yellow hue. 33 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 34 This is the day they shall not speak 35 Nor will it be open to them to put forth pleas. 36 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 37 That will be the Day of Reckoning. Gathered will be (you) and the earlier (generations). 38 If you now have any conspiracy, carry it out on Me. 39 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 40
