The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
