The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 , A fitting reward. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
