The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
