The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 a fitting requital, 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
