He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 To him you attend; 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 You neglect. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 Olives and dates, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And his mother and his father 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
