He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 when the blind came to him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And he fears, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And olives and palms 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
