He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 So you are after him! 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And whereas he fears, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 exalted and purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what has God created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 to yield therein corn, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
