The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 by the night when it approaches 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Then where are you going? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
