The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 And when the pages are made public 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
