The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Then where are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
