The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 where then are you going? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
