The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 that hide, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 The rising dawn, 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 Then where are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
