The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 and the night that falls, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 Then where are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
