The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
