The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
